Bristol and Bath Screen Summit

Bristol and Bath Screen Summit

Yesterday saw the return of the Bristol and Bath Screen Summit for its second year at the iconic Arnolfini arts centre and gallery. Hosted by Sarah Beeny and featuring a wide range of Bristol TV talent the screen summit is fast becoming an integral part of the Bristol media industry calendar.

Not wanting to miss such a great opportunity Lux Aeterna sent our Creative Technologist, James Pollock, to talk about the use of AI in visual effects as part of the AI in Practice panel discussion alongside Ben Ackland from Meaning Machine Games, and Verity Mcintosh from University West of England (UWE), hosted by Erinma Ochu, Wallscourt Associate Professor in Immersive Media at UWE.

The discussion focused on how AI can be utilised in productions to innovate and optimise whilst also being aware of the guidelines and limitations surrounding it. James opened his presentation with an introduction to Lux Aeterna and the work we do followed by an in depth exploration of AI and VFX, focusing on the benefits of AI, with particular reference to how it can be used to help craft 3D environments. It was fascinating to see AI used in action after the panel had discussed its uses in the creative industries.

It was great hearing from other voices in the Bristol creative industries and being able to present our work, with the summit showcasing the depth of talent that we have right here in the South West.
