Surf’s up at Lux Aeterna

The world of VFX can be fast paced and at times high pressured, which is why it’s important to take a break every once in a while. With this in mind last week we (wet)suited up and went surfing. Being a Bristol based VFX company we’re fortunate to be located near to The Wave, one of the UK’s only outdoor surfing pools.

With 30 minutes on land before we hit the waves we had the chance to practice our surfing technique with The Wave surf instructors. The water was a chilly (but not freezing) 12c and we descended into the pool ready for some fun. It’s fair to say there were some mixed abilities in the group with varied experience across the team. But, with everyone encouraging each other and improving throughout the session it fostered a great atmosphere in the group. Some success (and big wipeouts) later we were tired but full of a sense of achievement, and finished the day with some team building and resilience training, and a review of the day.

With everyone eager to return it was a rewarding day out and an important reminder of the benefits of taking a break to catch a wave every once in a while.
