Horizons - A 21st Century Space Odyssey
Horizons takes you on a dazzling cinematic journey that tells the story of how we came to be and what we can become.
The opening sequence transports you from the dawn of time to the present day and on into a future vision. It is cut to the arousing finale of Jean Sibelius’ fifth symphony.
In the live show, Lux Aeterna’s VFX sequences of far-away galaxies, alien worlds, and exploding supernovas as well as real-time rendering content in Unreal Engine are presented on 40-metre state-of-the-art LED screens.
The Unreal scenes featured dynamic elements such as changing weather and time of day, blowing foliage, and 3D CGI flying robotic drones using a flocking algorithm. These ‘drones’ utilised motion sensors that tracked Brian around the stage. The Unreal scenes were controlled by RenderStream, a proprietary protocol from Disguise for controlling third party render engines. Disguise was used as the principal real-time 3D simulator & media server to integrate the practical lighting with the LED Screens.
